Privacy is essential to our lives. Many people rather give up some of their privacy for security. This means they give more power to the government over their lives so they can feel more protected. As a Republican, I believe in a smaller, less powerful government. We do not need other people taking control over our lives. If we as the people allow the government to take more control than what is necessary, we will lose more and more of our privacy that we have today. Through technology, social media, and the internet, everything we post online can be tracked. Phone calls can be listened in on for "safety" reasons. Is this really necessary? It is an invasion of privacy. There are multiple ways we can give up our privacy and not realize it. Not changing the security setting on Facebook to keep your profile private, downloading apps on our phones that want access to your personal information, and much more. We must come to the realization of these ways that we are handing off our privacy.
Privacy to me is being free of observation from other people, not being under surveillance, and having the right to have time alone to spend time doing what you wish.
